BUT I'VE HIT MY HOURS

Please do NOT refuse to help out because "all your work hours are done".

The very definition of "teamwork" is the joint action of working together by a group of people to achieve a common goal or mission, which contributes to the unity and efficiency of the group".

It takes effort on everyones part!  And, if you think that other's won't notice that you are not helping - YOU ARE WRONG!!   They notice!!

Volunteer Hour Tracking

We use our website's feature called Dibs to track and manage volunteer time.  Clicking on the Dibs tab and then the season will allow you to see all volunteer opportunities and hours up for (you got it) dibs!

To claim a volunteer opportunity, you will need to be logged into SportsEngine, and then click on the Dibs, click on the season and review all available options; you can use filters to help, such as dates.

After you have claimed your session, enter in your information, and click CLAIM!  You will get a confirmation email. After you have completed the hours, you can go back in see available Dibs and click on "My Dibs" near the top in the dark banner. The session you completed will be marked as "Claimed," and if you click on "Claimed" you will be able to choose "Verify Completion." This send a notice to the volunteer coordinator and they will approve. If you do any rink cleaning, please also make sure to mark your completion on the clipboard in the supply closet.

WHY DO WE NEED TO VOLUNTEER?

We are an organization built and run on the strength of our volunteers and the commitment of our parents and players.  We greatly appreciate the many hours of time and energy that our members put in to make our rink run smoothly.  We could not do this without your efforts.

Over the last few years we have made many improvements to our rink and we hope to continue to make many more.

Our association is committed to providing an exceptional hockey program while making sure our registration fees remain as affordable as possible.  As the costs of running our arena continue to increase, the board has come to the realization that in order to control our fees we need to do a better job of enforcing our volunteer and fundraising requirements.

Volunteer participation is critical in our effort to keep registration fees as affordable as possible.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

Volunteer participation is critical in our effort to keep registration fees as affordable as possible.

It is each players / families responsibility and obligation to contribute a certain number of volunteer hours each season.  Volunteer opportunities are available on Dibs located on our website.  Teams will have assigned tasks throughout the season that they are responsible for staffing (i.e. RLHS home games, tournament preparation, tournament games, etc.), this includes making sure all necessary duties for your team’s home games are covered (scorekeeper, time clock, penalty box and concessions). Teams hosting tournaments or Mite Jamborees are responsible for all work hours for their team’s event, these hours do not qualify for your volunteer hours for the association.

Volunteer hours will be recorded and kept track of through the dibs page on the website. Volunteer hours will be updated periodically, Dibs will show your progress throughout the season on claimed and completed tasks, sheets listing accumulated family hours will be displayed on the bulletin board at the rink mid season.  If a question arises regarding your work hours, please contact the work hour coordinator.

During registration, you will be required to submit 2 checks, each written out for 50% of the amount of your total volunteer hours due for the season.  The first check will be CASHED at the end of December for those who have not completed 50% of your required hours and second check CASHED in the first week of March for hours not completed in full.  Once your hours have been fulfilled, your check will be shredded.  Hours are valued at $20 an hour, you will be required to present checks for your total required hours by the first day of practice/tryouts.  The deadline for completion of volunteer hours is Middle of March.

Although cashing checks helps pay the bills, it does not keep our association running. We need people to help run concessions, to clean, to coach, to sharpen skates, etc., in order to keep this program available to our youth. If we all share in the effort, it doesn't seem so burdensome. And actually, sometimes it's truly fun!
